Chattyness Media Index — Privacy Policy

We collect, retain, and sell no information about you from your use of the Chattyness Media Index at mediaindex.chattyness.com.

Scope

This policy applies only to the Chattyness Media Index served at mediaindex.chattyness.com — a directory (“guide”) of live and upcoming channels. It does not cover any other service or subdomain on chattyness.com, and it does not cover your use of the Chattyness service itself, each of which is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

Use of YouTube API Services

To assemble its directory of live and upcoming channels, the Media Index uses YouTube API Services. By using this site you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and any information handled by Google on YouTube's behalf is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

The guide's featured-notice area may also embed a YouTube player to play a highlighted video. When it does, that video is loaded directly from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) domain. See Cookies & tracking below for what that means.

What we collect about you

Nothing. This site does not collect, store, or process any personal information about you. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no forms that ask for who you are.

We do not ask you to sign in to Google or YouTube, and we request no access to your Google or YouTube account. Because the site never obtains authorization to your account, there is no such access for you to grant or to revoke, and we hold no private account data about you — no watch history, subscriptions, identity, or contact details.

What YouTube data we use

The data the Media Index draws from YouTube API Services is public information about channels and their broadcasts, not information about you as a visitor. Specifically, it retrieves:

This data is used solely to select and display which channels are live or upcoming in the guide at mediaindex.chattyness.com. It is not used to profile anyone, is not combined with any information about you, and is not sold, rented, traded, or otherwise shared — the underlying content is itself public on YouTube.

How that data is stored and refreshed

The public channel metadata above is cached transiently in a rebuildable working database purely so the guide loads quickly. We make reasonable efforts to keep it consistent with YouTube: it is refreshed regularly from YouTube API Services, is discarded and rebuilt whenever the service is redeployed, and is never kept longer than it is useful for showing the current guide. No information about you is stored at any stage.

Cookies & tracking

We set no cookies of our own. We run no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind; we do not profile, fingerprint, or follow you across sites.

The one exception is the optional embedded YouTube player in the guide's featured-notice area. While a video notice is showing, your browser loads that video from YouTube's privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain, so YouTube and Google can receive your request and the data described in their policies. That domain is designed not to store tracking cookies on your device until you interact with the player — the video starts muted and never plays sound on its own; it unmutes only once you interact with the page, by a click or the M key. Your use of that player is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Apart from that player, your browser communicates only with mediaindex.chattyness.com.

Selling or sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with anyone. There is no data about you to sell.
